Black Christians Against Substance Abuse (B-CASA), founded in October 1991, is an active urban coalition in Austin, and has a mission of implementing research-based prevention strategies into the faith community. This coalition brings extensive experience in both working with clergy and congregations and collaborating with community organizations and agencies whose mission is to reduce substance abuse among youth and adults.

With this vision, the mission of B-CASA is to identify and participate in a full continuum of care for their members and the individuals and families they serve that includes prevention, assessment, intervention, treatment and continuing care services that are:

  Delivered with a holistic approach whereby the physical, mental, and spiritual health needs of individuals and families are addressed.
  Culturally and age appropriate.
  Family focused; provided while recognizing the dignity and worth of each person.
